“Beginnings — Into the High Country” is an original acrylic painting on canvas created by the artist at just 17 years old, while still in high school. Beyond its mountain landscape, the painting represents an important moment in the artist's personal history: the early development of a lifelong passion for creating art.

A snow-covered mountain rises dramatically beyond a dense forest of towering evergreens, while a clear mountain river winds through the foreground. The composition naturally carries the viewer from the rocks and moving water, through the trees, and ultimately upward toward the illuminated peak and expansive sky.
