Sometimes, the smallest hand can tell the greatest story.

“Hold On to Me” is the fourth and final work in the Love for Humanity Series, a collection centered on the bonds that unite us—love, protection, compassion, dignity, and our responsibility to care for one another.

In this portrait, a young child looks directly toward the viewer while reaching upward to hold the hand of an adult. We see only part of the person guiding her, making the connection between their hands the emotional heart of the drawing.

Her small fingers disappear into a hand large enough to surround them.

It is a simple gesture, yet it speaks a universal language. A child does not need to understand everything happening around her to know what it means to reach for someone she trusts. Hold my hand. Stay with me. Keep me safe. Don't let go.

The child's expression brings another dimension to the work. There is innocence in her eyes, but also a quiet seriousness that invites the viewer to wonder about the life behind them. Rather than defining her circumstances, the portrait leaves her story open—allowing us to recognize something greater than any single place, culture, or moment.

Rendered in charcoal, the dramatic blacks of her clothing contrast beautifully against the softness of her face and the extraordinary detail of the intertwined hands. Every fold, texture, highlight, and shadow draws the eye back to that single point of connection.
